Local Attractions in Cape Town

Uphill House is relatively short driving distance from Cape Town International Airport – no more than a thirty-minute journey.

Find us nestled in the hills of the Constantia winelands – home to some of the country’s finest wine estates and world-renowned restaurants.

You’ll be surrounded by nature with only a short walk to the Table Mountain Nature Reserve through Cecelia Forest; or a quick MTB ride onto the Constantia greenbelts which wind themselves through this age old leafy suburb.

For the wine enthusiasts, some of South Africa’s finest and oldest wine estates are just a short drive away. Book yourself onto one of the Constantia wine tours or simply pop in for a wine tasting at any one of the 10 at your leisure.

Constantia boasts some of South Africa’s best award-winning restaurants; each one with its own speciality. Pick and choose from the likes of La Columbe, Chef’s Warehouse, and Beyond, to name a few.

Other activities in the area include an exhilarating tree-top adventure at Acrobranch, in the Constantia Nek forest, where panoramic views of the region are taken in as you zip-line and swing from branch to branch. Keep the kids entertained for hours at The Bike Park and finish it off with the best tasting ice-cream in Cape Town at Kirsten’s kick-ass ice-cream at Constantia Uitsig.

Some of the best beaches in the Cape are also the best beaches in the world, several of which you’ll find just a short drive from Uphill House. The beach at Hout Bay is ringed by mountains and dominated by The Sentinel, Llandudno Beach is wild, rugged and quiet, and Muizenberg, an untapped tourist spot, is perfect for families. Well known for its brightly painted beach huts, Muizenberg beach is warmer, it’s popular with surfers, and the long stretch of white sand makes it an ideal long beach walk.

If art is on your playlist, the Norval Foundation in the Constantia Winelands is a family- friendly haven where you’ll find a bouquet of exhibitions showcasing top South African and African modern art, with a particular focus on sculpture and large-scale installations

Slightly further afield is the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, the building itself being a showpiece; and known for its cutting-edge exhibitions and showcasing of African art.
